About Us

The Southwest Focal Point Senior Center is the central location for senior services in Pembroke Pines. Our 52,000-square-foot facility offers a multitude of services geared to the elderly residents of southwest Broward County. The Center includes an adult day care program and is adjacent to our senior housing complex. Check our schedule for health support and nutritional services provided at the Center.

The Center also offers recreational and educational activities during the day, including university classes, professional training programs, and is the site for many special city events*. Adult Day Care

Adult Day Care is a community-based service that assists frail elderly and dementia specific adults to remain living in their own homes, with their family, or in an assisted living care situation for as long as possible. Independence is the goal for each adult day care participant. Each individual’s remaining abilities are enhanced so that he or she can become as independent as possible.

The center provides health and social services in a congregate setting. A variety of services including health screening, recreation, activities of daily living, counseling, nutrition, transportation, and caregivers support group are all offered.

Health Support

The S.W.F.P. offers comprehensive Health Support services, including health education seminars, health screening/wellness programs, nutrition, health assessment/referrals and a fitness program. Our goal is to empower individuals 55 and over with a sense of dignity and promote a healthy lifestyle.

Types of Programs

Health education seminars provide an opportunity to communicate positive behaviors and information that enhance overall quality of life. Current topics include fall prevention, vision health, cardiology, podiatry, cholesterol, medication management, and many more critical and relevant health topics. Our speakers include highly recognized and dedicated medical professionals and community experts. The senior center offers weekly health seminars.

The S.W.F.P recognizes the importance of preventative health care screenings for the senior population. Our goal is to facilitate accessible health services to vulnerable, isolated, and low-income seniors residing in our community. A multitude of health screenings are offered, including but not limited to: Mammograms, Bone Density, and Hearing Level diagnostics. Our health screenings are sponsored by local and regional medical institutions and community health programs. In addition, staff nurse is available to provide blood pressure screenings, weight monitoring and medication consultations.

Our fitness program offers diverse health classes that accommodate all levels of physical fitness. Classes included: Water Aerobics, Chair Exercise, Yoga, Tai Chi, Line Dance and Jazzercise. Instructors and staff are dedicated to teaching skills that promote physical activity and reduce sedentary time.
